Description
The Amarillo Bell Helicopter Military Aircraft Assembly Center began operations in February 1999. The first Block 10 CV-22 was delivered to the Air Force Special Operation Command in March 2006. The CV-22 achieved Initial
Operational Capability in 2008. Currently there are two CV-22 squadrons in the Air Force Special Operations Command, the 8th Special Operations Squadron at Hurlburt Field, Florida and the 71st Special Operation Squadron at
Kirtland AFB, New Mexico. The Air Force Special Operations Command will receive 50 CV-22 aircraft. All aircraft are assembled and flown in Amarillo prior to delivery.
