Description
“The 43d Intelligence Squadron has an illustrious history finding our nation’s adversaries wherever they hide. Beginning as the 4th Photographic Technical Squadron on 2 November 1943 in Tunisia, the “tech-ers” provided imagery analysis to Fifteenth Air Force during bombing campaigns in Italy, Germany and southeastern Europe. After the war, the unit was redesignated the 363d Reconnaissance Technical Squadron and executed imagery intelligence for tactical reconnaissance aircraft. During the opening months of the Korean War, the unit rapidly deployed and surged tactical imagery analysis to Fifth Air Force. Later, it provided historic imagery analysis during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was presented the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award in recognition of its contributions. Reborn as the 43d Intelligence Squadron on 1 November 2011 at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico, it realigned with the 27th Special Operations Wing, transitioning from fighters to special operations aircraft. Today, 43 IS Airmen provide precision geolocation, enhanced situational awareness and direct threat warning for special operations forces throughout the world. The squadron’s motto speaks to the enduring task of the squadron, from WWII to present day, locating the nation’s adversaries, any time and any place: INVENIMUS - We Find! “
